Trento/Hiking in Bressonone

BRESSANONE, ITALY

One of the towns we found on our hike. All of the houses had flowers like this!

The view of Bressanone from our hike

We even found a little waterfall :)

Such cute houses!! I want to live here! :)

There was this big open field too on our way down the mountain.

One of the churches we found.

More flowers!!! :)

Another church! It was really cool because there were no towns or buildings around it, just the church.

Well, it has been a crazy, but fun week/weekend!! I just got back yesterday from the Dolomites. It was our first free weekend, so two other girls and I took the train up to Trento, which was about a 4 hour train ride north of Ferrara. I’ve never been on a train before so that was fun, and they are really easy to get around on. We left early Friday morning and got to Trento Friday afternoon. It was a really cute, small and quiet town, not a whole lot different from Ferrara. We walked around and explored for the rest of the day. It was really nice not having anything we had to do for once, so it was very relaxing.

On Saturday morning we got up early and took the train about an hour further north to Bressanone. We really wanted to go hiking, and we heard Bressanone was the place to go! I am sooooo glad we went all the way up there because it was absolutely gorgeous! It is probably my favorite place on earth! The town is actually mostly made up of German people because it is so far up north, really close to Austria. The town looked a lot different than any I have seen in Italy because it has a lot more German inspired architecture, which I loved. The people were also a lot nicer, then most I’ve met in other Italian towns and most that we talked to spoke German, Italian, and English, which was nice. After we walked around Bressanone, we hiked up into the hills, which were pretty steep :) First we came to this little church up on the hill. There were no roads around it, but the doors were open and we walked inside and got to look around. There was an incredible view of Bressanone and all the surrounding towns from the church as well. Then we kept hiking and can to a little town that made me feel like we were in Germany. It was so fun to walk around and all the houses were beautiful and the flowers were absolutely gorgeous! I took lots of pictures of the flowers, so you can see :) On the rest of the hike we came across a few other towns and churches and I just can’t even imagine what it would be like to live up there!! I think I would love it though :) I really want to go back in the winter after it snows! I saw a bunch of postcards of Bressanone at Christmas and it is gorgeous! Hopefully I will be able to go back before I leave!

Ferrara Balloon Festival

The Balloons!

Lots of bread!!!

Yummm, Cake :)

All the delicious treats at the festival :)

This week is also the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Ferrara, which is a huge event they have every year. They have it set up in this huge park with all kinds of booths and activities. They set off balloons every morning and they let people ride in ones that are anchored to the ground, so they don't go very high, but I really want to try it later this week!
