My favorite church we saw :)

It was really pretty inside, but we couldn't use a flash so the pictures are kind of dark.

Hey everyone!!

Well, the first week of my Italian class is over, and we have already had a test! The week went by really fast though! On Wednesday our group got to go eat dinner with the local soccer team from Ferrara, which is called SPAL. It was a lot of fun, but the guys didn’t speak much English. We get to go to a game in a few weeks, which will be really fun.

Yesterday we went on a trip with our group to Ravenna and Comacchio, which are about an hour bus ride east of Ferrara, towards the coast. In Ravenna we went on a tour of a bunch of really old churches that had amazing mosaics inside. The tour was pretty cool, but the best part was defiantly where went for lunch. They had probably the best pasta I have EVER had! They were these hand-made fettuccine noodles with meat sauce on them and it was absolutely delicious!! After lunch in Ravenna, we went to Comacchio, which is a tiny fishing town. I really liked it because it wasn’t very crowded at all, which was nice. I also really liked the canals that ran through the town.

Today, Ari came and visited me, which was soooo fun! We just walked around Ferrara for a few hours and had lunch and, of course, gelato :) After that me and a couple other girls were planning on going running around the wall, which surrounds Ferrara (I’ll tell you more about that later!) But, as soon as we started running it started raining. At first it felt good, but we heard thunder and there was lightning right above us. Then, it started hailing, so we had to stand under a cover for almost ½ an hour before it finally stopped raining! I haven’t been caught in a thunder storm that bad before, and I’m not sure if it’s common here in Ferrara, but hopefully not! :)

Tomorrow after class we get to go learn how to make gelato, which I’m super excited about!!! Gelato is defiantly the highlight of the food here, and it’s so much better than regular ice cream!
Oh and I totally forgot to tell you about the wall because it’s probably one of my favorites parts of Ferrara so far. The city is surrounded by a 9 km wall from the medieval ages and there is a trail that goes all along the top of the wall, which is good for walking and running. And there is also a trail that goes along the outside of the wall, which is 12 km long and good for biking. It’s about an hour long bike ride and is pretty flat, so it’s a good ride. I put up some pictures of the wall too :)

  1. All of your pictures are so pretty!!! And I am way jealous. And gelato is definitely ridiculously delicious so you should eat lots of it just because you can.
